About the Author
Órla was born in Dublin at the turn of the 70's. She grew up in a small town in Co. Wicklow which was nicely nestled between the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea.
Both her Father and Grandfather were keen gardeners with a wealth of knowledge about nature which they shared with her.
Órla's summers were spent in the sea or in late summer on country walks foraging for nuts, berries or mushrooms. It was this amazing time with nature and her appreciation for it, which awakened her spiritual side and her connection to the life force energy, long before she ever heard the word Reiki.
After a year of working as a Radio DJ in Dublin, while doing her final year at school, Órla was offered a place in Glasgow University to study Technology Education. The move to the big city was a time of huge change and after 3 years Órla took a year out and she would later graduated with a Bachelor of Technology Studies.
It was Órla's passion to inspire, motivate and empower people which helped her progress in a career in retail management.
At the end of 2002, Órla was due to return to Ireland on secondment. Unfortunately, before her return, she lost her Stepfather then 2 weeks later her Father, also having lost her Granddad the previous year on her birthday.
In just 3 months of returning home she found herself in hospital with an ovarian tumour the size of a watermelon.
It was during these few years of great loss that she fully embraced her spiritual connection both as a Medium and a Healer. Being in her hometown near nature and the Irish Sea once more, enabled her to accelerate her healing and her connection to the spirit world.
Like her grandfather before her she believed once the tumour was removed, she was healed which was made official a few years later when she was given the all clear.
Órla spent the next year travelling the UK working in the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. She was working in stores which had lost their managers for varying reasons and she had to build trust quickly and motivate staff to help turn the shops around. She used the skills she learned from studying education to identify and evaluate the people she was working with and their needs. It was a very colourful and rewarding time in her career.
In a few years she would meet her future husband on the 'Start a business program', move with him back to Glasgow, inherit a Spiritualist Church, officially become a Medium, study both Spiritual Healing and Reiki, become a Reiki Master Teacher, and gain diplomas in Meditation, Crystal healing, T'ai chi, massage and Teaching your own classroom based classes.
At the time of going to publish, Órla was teaching Mediumship in the College of Parapsychology in Edinburgh where she was also on the committee. She can also be found doing demonstrations of Mediumship all over Scotland, having privately read for people as far away as America and Australia.
Her Reiki Students reach from the east to the west coast of Scotland, with distant students in both Ireland and America.
